Same old tactic used in his courtship.. a sexual sting to calm the female..

The female accepted the spermatophore and the pair broke up immediately.
Male was observed running away frantically while the female was simply caught up in munching on the remaining spermatophore.
The whole mating lasted 5 mins and the male was later removed from the brooding enclosure.
