| I just got 8 new Androctonus australis 2i. I put into their new home, but I've only seen two of 'em since. But I know just 2 scoprs couldn't have eaten all the crickets I put in it. | |

| Awesome! Wish I could have some of these, they're my favourite scorpion and I've never seen on in the flesh. Nice set-up, good to see some one being precautious, tank looks very secure. | |

| I like the idea of pad lock! Plus.. that's a really neat setup Do keep them well fed, depending on their growth rate... you should be able to detect them more easily in about 2-4 months time | |

| Thanks GS. Just thought it was funny that 2 of 'em went right to work and built den/lairs/burrow. I didn't think they burrowed, but these 2 dug down deep. No other signs of digging though. I'm so excited about having 'em. | |

| Awesome dude! They're off a lot better there then where they came from lol. Doing a great job! Lift that log and shiver! Nice little fatties! They are somewhat familiar hmmmm Lol at the lock. Great idea and awesome pics. Make sure to keep some parts very moist because I think by the looks of it, they might be molting very soon. Thanks Next step: BREEDING AUSTRALIS | |

| Agree. Androctonus australis slings does require slightly more moisture. A guide i suggest.. no more then 20% of the surface area on the sand substrate should be dampen... (slightly) | |

| Thanks Anna, they are just the neatest to watch. Taking down crickets their size or larger. Of course they only eat half of it. I think some are about to molt, I can't wait to see'em in the next phase of growth! | |

| That's what it is. They can't legally keep Buthids because they are "dangerous". Dangerous my @$$, only dangerous if you don't use common sense.
Having said that, they do get alot of scorps that we don't. For example Heterometrus mysorensis are rare in the U.S. , but over in Europe they are fairly common.

| The only Heterometrus that are common over here are H. spinifer. Sometimes we get H. cyaneus and H. longimanus. Mysorensis, madraspatensis, phipsoni, fulvipes, and swammerdami are almost impossible to find in the states. | |

| Thanks GS, I thought it was something like that. We have the same thing here in Texas, but it doesn't cover any inverts, only lions and tigers and bears oh my and some reptiles. BTW my new additions are at 3i now or at least 3 of them have molted. Lost one of 'em. dried up! Saw one still at 2i. Haven't seen any more. Once they've molted how long does it take before they harden up and are back to normal? | |

| It takes them longer each molt. Because they get bigger they need more time hardening up. At instar 3 I'd say 3-4 days. Right before getting adult, about a week.
After that they will feed ravenously again. You can only supply them with water if they're soft and light coloured.
TOo bad the one dried up, but this happens. Its really the scorpions fault there. The others prolly are in the sand. Dont worrie too much about it.
I have none that molted yet, so it must be the high temp there forcing them to molt that fast. Anyway, gz! Their tail will thicken the next molt. Very much so.
