| My local pet store alternates what animals they have to offer. So when all the emps are purchased its anyones guess if they restock or get a diff animal to offer. I bought my emp for $12 but if they have to special order an extra they usually charge 25 plus the 12 dollars. So im wondering if i was to want to purchase another in the future or a different species is there a good website to order scorpions from? I have found a couple but no real information on if they are humane or reputable. If any of you have good experiences with an online supplier id really appreciate a point in the right direction. | |

| I'm not even from your area, but what I read is that he has a wide choice, with nice animals.. but pretty expensive. So I'd say if you want something real bad, he's ur man. If you can find them somewhere else; they'll be cheaper. Thats what I read, might have changed company policy | |

| OP: On the AB boards, there is a Buy/Sell Section, the majority of the sellers all have a feedback thread in the signature area of their posts. I'd recommend you read those with the best customer feed back and select a vendor from there...

| Swift's Invertebrates is another good place. Also I found that Ken is cheaper than lots of other places out there. (One place wanted $250 for a 2nd instar H. swammerdami. I got mine from Ken for $85) | |

| 85 DOLLARS?????? for a 2nd instar swammi??????
that's £51 in real (UK) money....
Over here we pay around $5 for a 2i.
I bought an adult female swammi for £25 (40 USD) earlier this year.

| I dont really know but the most expensive t around here still is the P. metallica and they are at 50 euro 60 dollars somewhat for a sling.
Adult A. iodius for example 3.5cm bodylength goes for around 40 euro. spec Mexico around 20 euro.

| Buying from Ken is worth it for large orders. Some of his prices are excellent while others are a bit silly. If you are getting a single scorp I'd recommend trying to source it locally. See if you can find what you are looking for on your local classifieds. plenty of people get Emperors and decide they don't want them any more.
You can also try LLLReptile. They have Emps for $9.99 each, or 5 for $45, but then you have to pay shipping.

| The shipping is what makes it expensive. $30 for the overnight. $5 for a swammie!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me!?! I have seen emps that cost more than that. The most expesive T I have seen was an adult female P. metallica going for $650! Ken also had a adult female swammie going for $150. (I would have gotten it, but it was gone) We don't get many Heterometrus over here. The one I really want is Heterometrus fulvipes. | |

| I was going to write a nice response but to the OP, however, no matter where you purchase at, unless its a retail store and they have the animal in the store, there are going to be shipping costs passed on to you. If someone special orders an animal at my buddies shop, they have to pay the shipping on it. If its in-stock fair game... I'm just saying be prepared to pay shipping unless its an in-stock animal retail...
Or you could always ask when they are placing their next big animal order and see if you can pay them upfront retail for a couple animals (scorps in a pet store shipment won't be much of the overall pro-rata % regarding the shipping fee).
