| Hey guys I'm Sam and I'm completely new to this forum. I got my first Scorp today and I would like to ID it if at all possible. I was actually directed here by a member who said you guys are pretty good at IDing Scorps, which does make a lot of sense lol. All I know is that its a Heterometrus and its a confirmed female. So here come the pics: So there she is. Thanks for any help | |

| I actually think i've identified it through research lol.
Due to the black telson and that there appears to be no granulation on the prosoma I've narrowed it down to a H.laoticus.
If anyone can find doubt in this please say

| laoticus is not the only one with black telson and no granulation on the chelae. It could be H. petersii. I have yet to get a confirmation on mine | |

It could be H. petersii. I have yet to get a confirmation on mine The prosoma of the laoticus is smoother than that of the petersii.

| It's 99% laoticus, petersii usually turn a green color when pics are taken of them with a flash and do have granulation on the carapace whereas laoticus never have granulation there. | |

| Thanks for all the help and the warm welcome. I'm pretty happy with her and it helps that I know what species she is.
Does anyone know where I can find scientific papers on Heterometrus? I was told Couzin had written a good one?
