Ok.
Considering my Emp is well fed, calm, seems to enjoy her surroundings and comes out regularly. What is the best way,to get her to walk onto my hand so I can hold her without stressing her overly?
I just wanna look at her up close and hold her without being pinched or stung.............but I don't want her upset either.
Thoughts?

Lay your hand flat on the sub and coax her onto it gently. Remember to commit to it. Hesitance will lead to misfortune. Either you'll spook her, or you'll drop her so be sure you're ready!
Good luck and Godspeed.

Thanks Street. But coax how? I aint gonna push her. Do I just leave my hand there til she decides or what? And by ready, do you mean, no fear????
Thanks for the luck............Ugh I'm sweating. LOL

coax her by gently nudging her with something like your hemostats or feeding tongs or a straw. by ready he means be ready for anything.like if she gets on your hand and you lift be ready to put your other hand under her for another climbing surface or so she doesnt fall so far if your hands already high.

If she is as chill as you make her out to be, you shouldn't have any problems so long as you don't make any sudden movements. Like Street said, lay your hand out flat and like Shining said, gently tap her tail with something. When I pick up my emps, I just tail them but it's quick and easy and they chill out as soon as they hit my hand. But you go with what you are comfortable with. Goodluck dear!

to add to wyatts post. if you nudge her tail she might turn right around and just back her up by keep nudging gently and shel walk backwards onto your hand. ive heard tailing is bad and very stressful.ive had to do this as a last resort since i had to do a sub change and my female would not cooperate at all.i just used my fingers as i dont mind a sting and i dont trust my squeezing pressure with hemostats.
i can almost gurantee she will not be calm when you try to pick her up and i can gurantee she will calm down when you have her in your hands and she realizes you arent a predator.

Shining makes a good point. They will whip around and raise their claws but it's a bluff. In my expirience, it takes a lot to get them to try to nip you. (At least with my emps) I think I will stop tailing unless I have to. I hadn't considered the points shining mentioned, thanks man.

the one that got me was a juvi emp little bastard wasnt expecting it at all, ive handeled a few adult emps and various other scorps like e.flavs and stuff without any problem this guy (being a teen i guess) walked around on my hand for a good 3 mins before taking a liking to my pinky i was shoked the bugger wouldnt let go either lol drew blood ....my kinda scorp lol
think adults are much more placid than juvis and also males i find are more placid than females if that helps at all?

cats are brutal.sometimes they just toy with their prey torturing it until they feel like killing it and sometimes not even eating it,they are also suuuuper curious and investigative.i love em.
when i handled my emps last time sometimes they would lightly pinch the edges or round surface of my hand.im guessing to make sure it was something to walk, testing the stability of the new walking surface or to see if it was a predator that would move at its light grasp. they would hold on for after what seemed like an eternity,in reality only five to ten seconds. nerves tested i didnt budge and they walked about casually through the perpetual human flesh vines out of its familiarity. also about grabbing the tail,i could imagine its like being picked up by your arm or leg all the time.your joints will weaken in time from that reoccuring unnatural pull of gravity.

And she's been hittin her crickets hard..............she's advanced in age by her telson........she can't be gravid at her age right?

I pick mine up by the tail if they're on the substrate. In my experience its much less stressful for them, they seem to warm up to me faster if I do it that way. Just stay fairly still until it starts to move around calmly. Once it knows its not in danger you'll be able to move your hands around and bridge them together continuously.
Handling over top of a bed, or sitting on the ground is ideal. They don't have far to fall, and its not really hard. My male took a bad tumble a month ago or so. I took him out of his enclosure, put him on my hand, the fan turned towards me and the wind spooked him. He fell off my arm, bounced off my dresser and landed on the floor He's a tough SOB though, still kicking and really healthy
I'm going to keep trying to get my male to take a cricket while on my arm. Hopefully catch it on video!
PS. If you're picking them up by the tail, use your fingers, not a pair of tongs. It's a little freaky your first couple times, but its much safer for the scorpions tail.

Kweegwin you might be a nice guy, but my hair got straight and my toes curled from that post.
Try to give it a swing with a tennis racket while you're at it. See if it survives.
If things like that happen while you're handling yours, you're doing something wrong (even with the best intentions app.)
Sorry I sound like an [buttocks]... it doesnt make me popular but I dont care about that. It s just, dude be careful. It might be very tough, untill it breaks.

hecks yes a fan will scare the crap out of most vibration sensitive critters.i make sure my fans are off before handling any of mine.i kind of took that as common sense but some learn the hard way glad he made it out of that ok. Pluto actually plays tennis racket with his scorps.he doesnt use em as racket balls but has the scorp as an opponent.his scorps hold rackets and hits the ball too.its crazy ive seen it.he has to be feeding em pure oxygen into their tanks.huge.dude freaking like dog size. oh kweegwins late.hahahaha
