| I have some desert setups in the link in my sig if you want to check it out, what species is it for btw?
I ask cause not all desert species make big tunnels and burrows, most of them do, but some just make a small scrape under a rock like 2 inches in.

| If it is instar 2 or something there is actually nothing better than cricket tubs imho. You can control what is inside, it cant get out and it has more than enough room for its size, so it finds its prey easily. I chuck three pinheads in there and when they're gone, I know it has had its meal. If you have a large enclosure, they might have vanished somewhere.. Basically a bit overkill and highly impractical This is what I keep my instar 2 to 4 Androctonus bicolor in. It is white sand, with dried 'claywater' so it is just right to dig into it. You can provide a hide if it doesnt dig (but it will). Mauritanicus are avid diggers, my bicolor seem to stay under their hide and dont dig as much. Ofcourse I dont know what species you are getting but, most act the same way. Keep a corner moist, instar 2 dont have the water retaining capabilities big ones have. | |

| Get real earth clay, like the kind for pottery, and dissolve it in a bucket of water. It's very important that it is actual clay that can be baked in a kiln and not the oil based modeling clay that never dries. | |

| i bought some sand, just wet it a tiny bit and it's holding nicely for now. it's quite coarse, but i'm looking for a scorp that doesn't burrow a lot, just sits under rocks and stuff | |

| I wonder, talking about desert setups. For those of you that catch yours in and around your home, why don't you just bring home some of the dirt they were living in? Wouldn't that be most natural? Or is that bad? There ya go Tom..........back on topic | |

| No would be good. Too bad if you crumble it you break the texture and solidity.
If an average guy would put his glory in that hole, the scorpion might think.. damn, now thats a dic.! Sorry guys, its getting late and the level of complexity in jokes and conversations are sinking deep deeper.... 6 feet under.
