| Do sub-adult emperors usually molt in their burrows or outside of their burrows, or does it depend on the individual? I would think the burrow would be a little cramped for a 5i or 6i molt. | |

| I think it depends on the individual, but to hazard a guess, I'd say in the burrow is most logical. It's safer there. Less chance of something taking up an opportunistic snack. Not that scorpions in captivity have much to worry about on that front, but I'd say that instinct would still tell them to molt in the comfort and safety of their burrow. | |

| I'd say in the burrow there's plenty of room for them and it's prly better for molting due to higher moister levels too as well as the safety factor | |

| I now have the definitive answer. Yes, emperors do molt in their hides, and it does get crowed. Sorry for the lousy pictures, but they're the best I could get. There's only one scorpion here. On the left is the shed exoskeleton. On the right is the shiny (much larger) scorpion. I wonder if she'll drag the old exoskeleton out of her burrow once she hardens up? | |

| I'll leave her be for now since she's been through a lot. From what I can see, she's doubled in size but that may just be wishful thinking on my part. I thought she was a sub-adult with one molt left, but her telson is awful white. Are they usually white right after a molt? If she's only a juvenile, she's gonna be a monster. | |

| Yeah it should gain some color as it hardens. | |
