| Im trying to breed crickets but its not going well, found out how to do it the other day though, correct set-up and all that. i didnt leave them in with the scorp, I gave him fresh substrate and put the old soil in a seperate box. I hold no resposibility for the hundreds of deaths, it was very poor parenting on the mothers behalf if you ask me | |

| connie, you cant blame yourself for your scorpion sticking its face in the ground and moulting!! it was its own choice not yours and if you ask me tiny should have helped teeny out of the moult!! | |

| ...it was a very silly thing for it to do. I should have taken it out though! Tiny would sit next to Teeny vertically up in the air trying to moult...*shakes head* Silly little scorpling! I know its not *my* fault but...I should have taken him out of that situation sooner xxx | |

| committed an error recently:
my 2I S.Mesanesis escaped AGAIN from a different container. somehow, it would squeeze through the airholes like nobody's business. it's the only scorp with an escape problem. (escaped 2 times before, but I would find it at night).
anyways, my brother was playing my xbox360 and saw something scuttling in front of the TV, noticed it was a scorpion, freaked the hell out and got up and smashed it to smithereens. needless to say, the scorpion was a pancake when I came home that night and he explained it to me.
i had a good chuckle and disposed of the corpse.

| tell me about it. i was somewhat upset, but I can understand the reaction that most people would have.
besides, i got the little one as a freebie so I wasn't too troubled. i have another sub-adult so it's all good.

| My first mistake, which was posted in the emp forum, was introducing a second P.imp to an already established P.imp in the same tank, which involved in nasty territorial fights. Thanks to I Mantids, I was able to resolve the issue. | |

| First was I kept my very first scorpion...a P. Imp. in a desert tank set-up...sad that I listened to the pet store guy who was as clueless as I was. Second, tried to house a male and female desert hairy right off the bat...resulted in one well fed female...I loved that little scorpion | |

| The biggest mistake was to handle my freshly molted 3instar AFS because i was amazed by how much it had grew... I think it got scare and step back a few step and end up dropping from my shoulder level Nonetheless to say, it suffered from a bad trauma and died after few hours Its now in my fridge being preserved That was the last time i handle my scorp without reason RIP Dark | |

| not a bad thread to dig up actually... anyways, my biggest mistake was not securing the lid on a jar when I was rehousing my asian forest scorpion. It was lost in my sister's room haha. I couldn't find it for about 3-5 days or so and then one day my other sister from another room came running and screaming at me that she found a scorpion under her bed LOL! | |

| My worst mistake was probably getting rid of a baby emperor that i was adiment about it being dead and then later found out that they sometimes aren't actually dead and can recover with a warm, humid environment. All i could ask myself was "What if that scorp was actually still alive?" Never again | |

thats about it. | |

Just because its Robert.... I'll buy that one.... Off the top of my head, my seven scorp sins!!! 1. Over misting a Sub-adult B. jacksoni that I thought was pre-molt... it disintegrated.... 2. Had a heat lamp slip too close to my Tityus stigmurus keeper without my knowledge... came from work... RIP, Roasted in Pain 3. Getting constantly stung by juvenile Heterometrus spinifer when I had to move 5 seperate broods in a rush... I still owe those sting reports... 4. Underestimating the temperament of a large WC male H. spinifer while I was demonstrating scorpion handling at an exhibition. Had him on my flat palm but one of my pinky twitched and he clamped down hard on me for like 5 seconds... Because I was doing a demo, I just took it like wood... Ouch is all I could say... but it served to prove the point - that their massive chela is worse than their sting.... right on cue too lol.... 5. Transferring a B. gigas by picking up the bark she was on. Something spooked her and she ran up my arm... Uneventfully, she made a U-turn and arrived at her destination safe and sound. No sting but really close call for a bark scorpion that size. 6. Idiotically mixed-up the sandy substrate between my A. bicolor and my Lq. Now my Lq has mycosis.... still alive 7. The best for last... I pushed a tank back into a rack causing my H. hottentotta glass bow tol off from the other side. CRASH... one passenger... no survivors... (possibly gravid too) We Live and Let Learn....

| Underestimating the ability of dozens of self collected scorpions from popping at the same time, adding a zero to my total numbers nearly overnight. Surprise! hehe, just had to add, I'm watching the news, and I just saw a commercial for scorpion home sealing/eradication. Ugh. ABC "pest" removal. Ughh *maybe I should start r's ethical scorpion removal service? I just can't imagine how many people would call the po-po on me seeing me black lighting the neighbors house though!! | |

| Nothing major for me as of yet, just some little things
1. Not enough substrate, dug down to glass
2. Not supplying a decent hide for my flatrock
3. Not re-arranging the tank too much when putting my emp in with my other, cause alot of fighting, ones stinger got snapped off
Had some handling mistakes aswell, for one i put my emp on a chair for a second thinking it would be fine, he crawled to the underside and stayed there for a fair while, and also thought my emp flipped out randomly on my hand then realised it was me not noticing i was breathing pretty hard and she didnt like the wind.

| It's been a while since I posted in this thread . . . so I have a new one to contribute.
Not checking up on every specimen immediately prior to moving in a situation where I'd be essentially homeless for a week and they'd been in a colder-than-usual environment.
Or, "why Mike only has about six surviving U. mordax young from this summer's five broods."

| Puting a I2 Heterometrus Petersii into a wee pot with damp paper towel cause it started moltin then stoped just as the carapace slit and put it there to try n make it moult, tried to burn holes in the pot for air but never worked, so left the lid a little open and put it next to the heat mat, totally forgot about it till the next day and it was bone dry in there and the scorp was just a shriveled husk :'( ill not be doin that again | |
