Has anyone ever heard of a beetle infestation in their aquarium?

How can I get rid of it? I tried bug traps but they don't seem to be attracted to the smell....

Thanks,
Johny

Darkling beetles from mealworms?

I'd take the scorpion/s out and catch em all.

ya exactly. This one's flying now. Thanks for your advice. That's guna be quite a task b/c of my big aquarium and all my substrate...

For future board members, do not try insect traps on these, they don't work!

It may be easier to move the scorps out and just toss all the sub. There could still be larvae in there waiting to metamorphosis. Sounds like a good time for a total tank overhaul...

You could try putting the mealworms in a small dish so that they can't burrow?

That's a great idea! I was only actually dropping some in to encourage him to eat because he wasn't eating. I guess my strategy worked against me. He is eating the crickets now thankfully.

Occasionally they do eat the beetles too.
