| You may want to, but wait to see how big she actually is when you get her. Most of the time people just guess at how big they are. | |

| well i am still rather new with scorps and i dont know how big she should be... do i base off of the size of my male? and she was ordered as 4in female... i dont know how to tell the actual age and will they try to breed before she is old enough? | |

| It's nearly impossible to tell the actual age unless you raise it yourself. As with most animals there will be big ones, and little ones. With emps, the color of the telson can be used as an indicator, but it also is not always accurate. | |

| 4i will be Quite small and I would not recommend putting her with your male if he is adult, also will take ages for her to reach adult he may even die before they get a chance to mate! if your trying to breed I would suggest getting another female that is deffo adult I think emps can go to 7i We have had a sub adult female for ages and she just won't molt and completely ignores the adult male we have, we just had to return 4 emps as they was too small to add with our adults it's just not worth the risk | |

| well as i said before she hadnt eaten in about a month in spite of me trying every food i could read of.... this is the same female that had just recently given birth to 14 babies... none of which survived largely due to stress and my ill knowledge of scorpions as i had her on sand... which i now know is a big no no
either way its good to know he may not be full grown... do males have to be at full adulthood to breed? or like most animals in general will he start trying as soon as hit body reaches ableness?

| I hear mixed things about that. Some people say they can breed one molt shy of full adulthood, and others say they can't. Is your male getting fat? | |

| well i would say females deffo cant till they are adult but i dont know about males we have an adult male in with a sub adult female and another adult female, our subadult female completely ignores our male alltogether! and weirdly the other female gets bullied by the sub adult female she is the bottom in the pecking order for some reason lol think the male is waiting for the sub to be honest | |

in here it says...
These scorpions are slow growers; it can take up to 2 years (or even longer) before an emperor reaches adulthood. While in the wild there are specimens reported to reach adulthood within a year.
but we have had a subadult female for neary half a year lol
