| Found my Urotacus Manicatus dead this morning.
Looks to have died from starvation which is odd because i have tried to feed her once a week for the past 6 months. and she hasnt eaten. (Have had her for aprox 2.5 years and was always verry easy to feed)
Any time I have ever asked about scorps not eating, the responses i get are that they sometimes go without food for months, or they will start eating again when they are ready etc, etc. (not in this case)
It seems pretty obvious that she has starved to death its body is flat, no visable membrane, (was not crushed).
What have i done wrong? so that this does not happen to my other scorps?

| Well I'm no expert on Urodacus sp. by any means, but sometimes, for any scorp, if the captive conditions are not just right they will refuse food. There could really be any number of reasons for this though. Sometimes they just get old and won't eat...
I'm not passing any judgement, or saying that you didn't provide what it needed. These things happen, and we can only hope to learn and for success next time!
Anyway, sorry for your loss...

| When was the last time you checked on it before finding it dead? Sometimes dehydration can give them a deflated, emaciated appearance. Six months shouldn't be a problem for and adult scorp if all other conditions are right.
Was it WC? It's also possible it had a parasite.

| I didnt get it when it was fully grown, but it was'nt a juvanile either.
I checked on it weekly, i dont have any fancy equipment to modify humidity etc. so most of that stuff is a guess. but it is a verry hardy sp, able to live in several enviroments, as i was told.
She did have one small white bug on her when i found her, just assumed it was on the scorp because she was dead. she is verry clean looking with no eaten bits or infected looking bits.
Am afraid it sounds like dehidration. which makes it my fault.
Ps. If it helps, the scorp got massevely obease in the years before it stoped eating, than it went back to normal size in about 2 months, and didnt start eating again.
