| Thanks everyone, appreciated! Yeah I love the C.celebensis, hard to give a sense of how small it is though. This sort of shows it, just something I was having a bit of fun with using the macro. - Tattooed Scorp on Tattooed Skin :
Cheers Bex! Yeah female cavi's a beauty this time, she's really light compared to my others and I'm wondering if the could be the light colour form I have read about. This celebensis does seem to have longer claws compared to the others, please be a way to tell sex lol I could have a pair. Here's a pic of the my other one for comparison, you can see straight away it is lighter and has smaller claw in comparison to it's body. - Chaerilus celebensis:

| Very nice pics mate, and I gotta agree, the Chaerilus celebensis is great looking. They can be sexed by the claw shape. I think the male has longer fingers and a more elongated claw, the female has a much "rounder" shape to the claw. | |

| Cheers Mark, sweet that's what I wished to hear, looking very likely on me having a pair if so. I'd love to get some babies out of these tiny little scorps. So I reckon the darker one is male then. Might just put them together and see what happens. Cheers Dolby mate, they're pretty big chelae for a desert scorp but it's still pretty small, my lens has a habit of making everything seem big, oh yeah it's a macro! Can't wait for the GBB to start turning blue, you'll be hooked on T's just like scorps once you get your first one! | |

| Yes the Scorpio is a feisty fellow to say the least. My camera gear is a Canon 500d with Canon ef-s 60mm f2.8 USM macro lens, manfrotto xprob tripod, wireless shutter release, 2 other lenses and in the process of getting a Canon twin macro flash. Should be an awesome macro setup once I get this flash, just got to learn to use it properly now "all the gear, no idea" comes to mind | |

| wow! Nice gear I definitely need to get a DSLR soon, or atleat something close to it. I was thinking of nikon D3000 when they were cheap, but now they're out of the market and D3100 is a bit over my budget. My 5 year old P&S barely focuses anymore and get punished quite often for that | |

| jay i found this info on the C.celebensis last night when trying to write up a carsheet for them...
'Sexing: males will have slightly different shaped chelae than the females, males are smaller and thinner bodied than the females, females will have more of a round chelae, the males chelae will be more angular shaped. The first pectine teeth (left and right ) on females will be enlarged, so it can be tricky to sex Chaerilus celebensis since they are so small
Pectine count: the pectine count for this species is, ( 4 teeth for females & 5 teeth for males ) I think its quite unusual that they have so few pectine teeth, but this is a tiny species'
Dunno if that helps at all | |

| Haha, you've still managed to get some good pics with it though mate.
Ooo nice one Bex! That definitely helps alot, guess I'll have to get some good comparison pics tonight and see if we can work it out. You might be able to sex yours by comparing to them too. Going to be fun getting macro pics of the pectines on such a tiny scorp lol by the sound of it though I have a pair just going by claws.

| Yeah I think if you had pics of mine to compare to you should be able to tell the sex of yours just by looking. I don't know if this counts as playing dead but both do refuse to move when touched and will only move of their own accord lol they occasionally hang upside down like the Iurus defoureus too. | |

| Haha! I think that would get me pretty worried the first time I see it, it's like they know their venom is no use I know, they literally won't move for nothing will they, then you leave them for a minute and off it strolls lol funny little scorps. | |
