My emp scorpion is doing rather well so far and I've now got the scorpion bug! I want to start looking into a second one.
I'm thinking of maybe the desert hairy scorpion Hadrurus arizonensis. From what I understand they are pretty easy to care for and also have a mild venom. Since my emp is tropical/forest I thought a desert scorpion would be a nice contrast.
What do you guys think? Care tips welcome!

Check the caresheet here in the forums and you'll have no problems. Desert Hairies are a cool species.

Good luck on your hunt, I love my Haddy. They make a great starter desert species as long as, like said, you get an adult due to molting difficulties.
Also take a look at Hoffmannius/Vaojovis spinigerus for another good starter desert species although smaller than the Haddy.

Do you use a infared light 24/7 for a desert hairy scorpion or do they need a basking light during the day?

I'm thinking a 50 watt infared for a 10 gallon tank might be enough. if i run it 24/7.

When i have some money i might upgrade all my bulbs to 75 watt when they burn out. I think this would produce just enough more heat for all my tanks to be perfect 10 gallon habitats.

Also I forgot to post this some of you may have seen it. Its the most bad [buttocks] desert scorpion tank EVER. I hope one day I can create tanks like this.

There's a write-up on that set-up somewhere here. But can't find it right now.
