Hey guys, I was lucky enough to catch two of my C. gracilis in their mating dance. You can see from the vid that one of them has freshly molted, which worried me because the male was pretty aggressive in his dance moves and I didn't want the female to be injured in the process. At the end of the video, he's literally twisting her arm, to which I stopped them. However, I regret not separating the male entirely because I woke up the next day finding that he was still holding onto her. He was dancing the night away! She looked like she was beat and that was when I removed the male from the enclosure, but it was too late as I could see dents in the exo of the female and a few areas of tissue damage on the thorax. I hoped she would recover, but I found her today lifeless. It's a sad loss, but I'm still glad I was able to record a good length of the dance in HD It's also interesting to note the way he lifts her pedipalps up and he also uses his two front legs as well. You can see them shaking quickly every now and then. I think he's a noob with the ladies because he also grabs her tail at one point!
Make sure to watch it in 1080p HD! If your computer can take it that is.

Nice work!!! Man... he is tossing her all over the place. That's unfortunate timing what with the molt and her subsequent demise, but at least you got this rare opportunity to make this recording.

He definitely couldn't wait lol Yeah, I wasn't expecting them to mate at all, especially after her molt. He seemed like a dominant male and was often pushing the other ones around, so he got kicked out of the tribe Thanks for the condolences and yes, at least I got a cool mating vid out of it all.
