Arachnoboards confirmed that it's a bark scorpion. Any ideas for minimizing pain welcome. More welcome are ideas for minimizing the risk of another incident and/or others in the house.

To avoid another incident, you can invest in a blacklight. You can use the blacklight at night to search for the scorpions (the blacklight makes them "glow") and then get rid of them however you want.

baking soda on a wet cloth works, treat it like a bee sting, venom works basically the same way for most scorpions.
