New scorp coming!! seller cant tell the sex though?

hi, im getting a new scorpion p.imp from virginia cheeseman and have asked for a female, however she has said that she cant guarentee a female as she cant tell but will send a sub adult as it will be fine to go in with the adult male we already have ...... is it normal for a seller to not know the sex of what they are selling? i really want a female lol

what ive always done with my communial scorps ecpecialy one i want to breed i dont ask for a specific sex i usauly ask for about 4 then hope for the best ive always come out with a mix

i just assumed you would be able to choose sex lol, will just have to wait and see what turns up.

unless the dealers are breeders themselves or have experience with scorps it very unlikely they will know how to tell the sex

i dunno if she actually breeds them or not oh well lucky dip lol be a good suprise

virginia cheesman should know, its just she is sending you a sub-adult which makes it slightly more difficult to tell and if when it arrives it turns out to be male and she had said it would DEFINITELY be female she would have problems with you returning it etc.
if you ask for a female, chances are you will get one. personally i would ask for 2 females and then your likely to get at least 1.

well asked for a full adult and my partener spoke to her on the phone earlier today and she said which she said she has trouble sexing so she is sending a sub adult which she said will be fine to go in with a male adult so am confused oh well if its male we will just buy more females lol

We can sex it for you once you've got it to confirm what it is if you like - obviously you'll have to post a pic of its underside by placing it in a clear container and taking a shot from underneath.

I must warn you though, you won't be able to breed them until the sub-adult has matured.

how long does it take to moult from sub adult to adult? guess im gonna be waiting a while?

Yes, should be fine in the same tank unless its also a male in which case fighting is likely.

As for the molting, it all depends on the individual specimen (like all other animals some grow quicker than others). It also depends on conditions, such as temp, humidity, availability of food etc.
So it could molt after a week of being in your possession or it could take several months, like I say it just depends.

as binksy said its a good idea to get more than one because you have more of a chancw of getting what you want. Thats why i get about 4 when im looking to breed them because your going to have more of a chance of getting a mix
