| given the coloration of the 5th segment I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say it's a Pandinus imperator based on how common the species is | |

| Chela looks to smooth for P.imp I think Het. sp. But It's really hard to give an exact ID without a better pic. I can say for sure it's not H. long, or H. spinifer. -Eddy p.s welcome aboard. | |

| My vote's for Heterometrus longimanus. The chela indicated without a doubt it's a Heterometrus sp., and H. longimanus can have the red telson. It also has fairly elongated chela, characteristic of that species.
Eddy, what makes you say it's not that? | |

| Just basing my guess on Telson color. Mostly because the red telsons are rare and they usually present themselves as a brighter color. I saw the hair on the telson too and had the name of the species at the tip of my tounge but cant remember it now. -Eddy | |

| yeah, my initial thought was H. longimanus but I went for the default and threw out P. imperator. H. Longimanus or H. spinifer would make sense for availability in the region though | |

| I also say Heterometrus, and that it seems to be a longimanus. If you can take some close and clear pictures of the carapace (head) the chela (claws) the brachium/femur (arms) and telson (stinger) we will be able to narrow it down, but a 100% ID of Hets is difficult with pictures alone.
Also as you go snapping more pics... take a good shot of the pectin area and we can tell if it's male or female.
Cheers, |

| *laughs about someone aboves comment* Sounds like my playing who wants to be a "who wants to be a millionaire" My guess is not Pandinus. But thats as far as I can go with the guessing. I was gonna say and maybe you suggested it with "correct terms" but a Vietnam forest scorpion.... xxxxxx | |

| Even from the blurry first picture its pretty clear thats not a imp hmm it might be a spinifer, but i still hold my ground at longimanus.. but Heterometrus can be a pain to Id down to speices | |
