| Hi all, There is a problem occuring in my tank which I have discovered today. I found one of my baby emps half eatin' and mangled up by which i believe to be other baby siblings. Theyre a few months past 3rd instar, and theyre getting nice and big now. [ about 2 1/4 inches from tail to claw extend] . I have never seen this happen before, the mother died almost half a year ago, and was left behind with 5 scorplings out of 13. Now i am left with 4, and what i am really trying to ask is... What should I do with the rest of these scorps now? Should I split the tank, and divide each by 2 or should I just keep them in there altogether? What is the best natural selection of choice? thanks all. Bill- | |

| Well i would have to say that some how the scorpion had died on its own. Because i had 2 emperors together in my tank and one took a few days to die. And my other one NEVER touched him untill he was ....So they are known to cannibalize after a molt i believe but its very rare. So i would have to think that the scorpion died on its own and the other one decided to eat it. | |

| hmm hard to say they were all out of their hides yesterday standing their own grounds. and the kill was fresh, like not even 1 whole day of kill.
and yeah theyre known to cannibalize but it was jus strange how it decided to do it now when everything was alright, never seen them fight.. awlays gave them food, and they all slept together.

| Well, you're left with a choice that is entirely your own. It all depends on what you want to do.
You can leave them all together.
You can separate them into groups.
You can separate them all into individual containers (this would have the highest chance of survival)
When I had mine, I made a communal set-up and one individual set-up so that I could observe which does best. I am now down to one in each of the set-ups and they are both currently 5i and healthy.
So like I said, it depends on what you want to do.

| Do you know if it was up for a molt?
Well, if you can risk the communal setup, I say continue it. If they are precious to you, I'd continue to observe their behavior and separate if needed. Some people can afford losses and others can't, so I'd make my decision on that.
