just wondering if you could use a coconut shell for shelter for emperor scorpions.

yeah, you can. Just make sure it doesn't have any of the fiber on it or it'll grow mold. Make sure it has dried out too if you're deciding to make your own. Baking it would solve this problem.

Yeah make sure its dry as he said. if you dont want to put it in the oven or what not, you could stick it i n the microwave and that will kill whatever may be on it.

They sell 'em at pet stores for a reason.
And if having fiber on it would make it prone to mold, why would we advocate COCONUT FIBER as such a wonderful substrate??

Coco fiber is gods gift to scorpions. Not only is it cheap, but you can get a lot for your money. And it saves if you dont soak all of it in water.
