How to breed Empty
PostSubject: How to breed   How to breed Empty2/9/2010, 9:42 pm

Whats the best way to try to convince 2 scorpions to mate? i put them in together at the same time and they had a little fight but now they are not unseperatable. They sit under there hides together and just chill. They always sit together and everything. Is there a special way to try to convince them to mate?

1. they need to both be adults
2. try introducing them again, female in the cage first, then the male.
3. if they fight hardcore, stop them. you should know from vids what mating looks like.
4. give it time.

They both are about the same size and both of them came from groups of more than 4. And both of them have red stingers ( cant remember the big name for it) which means there both s.

also to add to that last post, if i want my scorpions to breed, is it best that they are kept away from each other then? There less likely to mate if there in the same tank all the time?

Separate them for a little while and then reintroduce at the same time and see what happens.
Are you sure that you've got a female and a male?

well considering they are in a group together already, and breeding that happens to take place will most likely happen late at night around 3 in the morning or so.

Well they mate, and then if it is successful, she will breed. Smile

It often happens a few minutes after you put them in the recently re-arranged tank, so it probably won't be 3 in the morning - unless that's when you try and mate them.

Maybe they've already mated, and therefore won't mate again.

Just a thought

You can try it in a different location, one that they're not used to. That seems to be what made my femme scorp go for the male

How to breed Empty
PostSubject: Re: How to breed   How to breed Empty2/11/2010, 7:43 pm

Basically, let me tell you guys my story from my first emps.
One female and one male. They had already mated before i bought them, and they alway hung around each other in the large tank. The male would follow/harass the female wherever she went.

After a couple of months, they would fight whenever he went near her or rather she would attack him until he retreated.
This got progressively worse to the stage where i had to separate the male.
A month later, she gave birth.

Things might seem ok if they just sit together all the time, but if she is gravid, then she will begin to get increasingly aggressive to the male as time goes on. If/when this happens, I'd suggest you separate them to avoid harm to your male.
This is because she will classify him as a threat.

okk thats great info to know. So if i start to notice that she is more aggressive towards him and starts to get gravid, ill remove (separate) him.
