Well i had an original plan of putting my plant into the substrate and leaving it inside of the pot itself. That way it still had its own soil and it could grow.

That's a good idea. You can also take it out when it gets big, cut it's root ball down, add more soil around new root ball, and you should have a plant ready to be replanted in the same spot. Over time, that would make it a bonsai.

That's also a good idea for decorative mushrooms, but you can't cut a mycelium mat back usually, so you would just have to replace the whole jar...

huh... yeah ima try and get some plants today. hopefully it will make my set up look nicer. its kinda boring rite now. Im getting a coyote skull from my gfs dad tho so that will add some smexyness to it.

From experience, this works perfectly. My plants aren't destroyed by the scorpion and can grow fine. You can water the plant individually as well which is nice. It's super easy to position it around too.
