My first scorpion just kicked the bucket

I just found the first scorpion that I've ever had, dead. I got her about two-years-ago. Pretty sad stuff but at least she led me into the invert world. I'm probably preserving her in alcohol until I get the supplies to put her on display.

when you preserve the scorpion is it pure alcohol you use?? or could you use something like absenth lol??

You would typically use 70% by vol isoproply alcohol which is not the same as ethanol (the alcohol found in alcoholic beverages such as absenth) I'm sure that liquor makes a poor preservative because of all the other chemicals present. You could use industrial grade enthanol, but it is more expensive than isopropanol. Sorry to hear about your loss

Yup, I use the 70% stuff. I saw some 90% in the store the other day but didn't have the $ to get some.

Any liquor would make a poor preservative because it's seldom above 50% concentration. Ethanol works fine when it's concentrated (everclear might actually work quite well).

In my experience, entomologists like high-concentration ethanol (70%-90%), but iso works well too (it's easier to find).

Sorry to hear your inaugural scorpion died, Brandon. I remember when that happened to me, too.
