what is my male emperor doing?

hes had his butt in the air like this for 10 minutes.

earlier, he was just high up, his girlfriend went under him and is digging now

hes not stinging himself, and he prefers to be in that red corner, nearest the lamp.

anyone know? lol

Stilting. Something they do when they're too warm, I think . . . which would be why he's doing it by the heat lamp (don't know why he just doesn't move away from the lamp ).

i was thinking warmth too, but the female was fine making a burrow for their family right next to it. of course hes guarding it now, but he did that for a good 20 minutes and i was just wondering
