| First...
I have an Emperor Scorpion who had babies about a week and a half a go, a couple days ago the young started leaving the mothers back, and since then have been walking around on there own(still inside the hide though).
Is it ok if I move the babies to their own tank? I find for feeding reasons, it will be easier for the smaller scorpions to be on there own.
Secondly...
I have a Desert Hairy and I have noticed that one of the leg joints(where the trochanter connects to the body) seems blackened in appearance, and there is also a slight limp on that leg. Anyone have idea what this is? What caused it? How it might be helped?

| Hi, yes it would be ok now to move the scorplings to seperate tanks. you may want to move the mother out the way in the process.
and the blackened area on your scorpions' leg is most likely mycosis, which is a fungal infection (I belive). there is nothing you can do to treat this, just make sure the tank stays bone dry.

| ^agree but it seems to me that it might actually have hurt it's leg somehow. Nothing to worry about but what you might be seeing is necrosis. | |

| Thanks...
When can I start feeding the babies pinheads? Anytime, or wait for them to darken more?

| just try anytime. if they don't feed, try again in a few days.
also, it would probably be best to feed them headcrushed pray at the moment (just as it sounds)

| If the babies fluoresce, they're ready to feed. | |

- Scorpions are also known to glow when exposed to certain wavelengths of ultraviolet light such as that produced by a blacklight, due to the presence of fluorescent chemicals in the cuticle. The principal fluorescent component is now known to be beta-Carboline.[13] A hand-held UV lamp has long been a standard tool for nocturnal field surveys of these animals. However, a glow will only be produced in adult specimens as the substances in the skin required to produce the glow are not found in adolescents.
Thats what the article says kinda annoying me.
