Just wondering if its safe to use dirt from outside in an emporer tank. Im worried about possible parasites. Could I maybe Microwave the dirt to kill off the ickies!?

not sure, but really you need to just buy some coco fibre. It's only a few quid for a couple of blocks.

it's kinda risky taking stuff from outside, sticking it in the oven for a while will kill of any parasites (don't use a mocrowave) but it won't get rid of any possible harmful chemicals. if you do want to take some dirt from outside, take it from a woodland or natural place were there are no bad pestisides or chemicals.

^Pretty much what he said. Away from human influences, and throw it in the oven to kill anything.

But it's probably a lot easier just to get some coco fiber.

I wouldn't risk it. Dirth from outside CAN contain a lot of unwanted things. Just invest a little money Very Happy. Home depot has some plain soil without fertilizer.
