| So, I got a surprise from my GF: It is a Leiurus quinquestriatus. I understand that these are extremely venomous and have no plans to handle it. I have it setup in a 5g hexagonal tank for the time being. I will be putting it in a 10g (a bit big, i know) with a locking lid to keep curious people from getting tagged. It is about 2.5" long with tail and has already eaten one cricket (as you can see in the photo). I am uncertain of its sex, but will be checking when I move it to the new home. Substrate will be a 70/30 mix of sand and peat that has been wet, packed and dried. Along with a few small, live cacti there will be several pieces of broken clay pot and flat rocks for decoration and hides. Heating will be a UTH stuck to the back of the tank and during the day a 50w heat lamp. Any pointers would be appreciated. | |

| hahaha it happens.
from what I have read on these, the only people at risk are the young and infirm. a healthy adult should be ok if tagged, not that it's recommended in the first place lol. Apparently they will not give you a full dose purely because you are not worth spending all their venom on... they cant kill and eat you... so it's more if a "I'll make sure you stay away from me" sting. | |

| Very nice. You'll definitely enjoy them as long as you're careful! Don't be an idiot (like me) and handle them! Keep them warm, keep them dry, feed them weekly, provide adequate ventilation, and you'll have no problems I have five of these little guys and they're awesome (= | |

| Amazing species if you ask me. Wish I could find them for a good price again as I just lost my last female. Keep them bone dry (trust me). Mine didn't even have a water bowl. Don't touch them. NO ONE SHOULD (glances someone's way, well a few people's) TOUCH THEM. They're fun because, at least in my experience, they are very active and great feeders. | |
