PostSubject: behavior comparison of our scorpions   behavior comparison of our scorpions Empty5/31/2009, 3:01 pm

I just thought it would be interesting to know more about different specimen of the same species else where in general. scratch reason is i only have 1 specimen of these guys and i dont know if what im seeing in them now is normal or not. just incase one may be stressed out or something and i wont know. so help me out k. i dont think they are stress though but just wana know how others are doin.

P. Transvaalicus ; Mine, is seldom out from from its hiding place.I only saw it once last week. when he's out(when i put the crikets in) he walks about alot, pretty fast too but only for a short while before goin back into its hide for god knows how long.

P.Liosoma ; He's out once every 2 to 4days or so, walks around for an hour or 2 but very very slowly then goes back to its hide for the next couple of days.

A.Australis ; Also, seldom out. Even less than my P.Tranvaalicus. and when he's out he walks very little but stays in one spot longer, like he's just got to rest and chill every couple of steps he takes. since i've put him into his new enclosure for a month now, i've only seen him naturally out on his own once actually.

Paucidens ; pretty active, walks around alot and will come out from hiding everyday, sometimes does not even bother to hide. will just chill n sleep on top rock that is exposed or on sandy ground. awesome scorp.

Hadrurus Arizonensis ; super active, walks about everyday, digging and trying to walk up conners of tank, other than that mostly he just sit and chill at one spot. does not hide much in the 'tunnel' i made for him.

P.Liosoma: He's out once every 2 to 4nights or so, walks around for an hour or 2 but very very slowly then goes back to its hide for the next couple of days

Hadrurus Arizonensis ; super active, walks about everyday, digging and trying to walk up conners of tank, other than that mostly he just sit and chill at one spot, eats the most.

P. Transvaalicus ; Mine, is out from from its hiding place alot. When he did use his hide he was like a trap door spider or those Ant lions cus his hide was in a bowl hole area of the enclosure and the crickets would fall into the hole and he's just lift his hide(a light piece of bark) and pull them in into the abyss.

P. liosoma (from memory): Hides away most of the day, comes out most nights to explore, hunt, or drink moisture off the tank walls. Never digs or burrows.

H. paucidens (from memory): Almost always hiding between rocks, not out very often. Goes through periods of refusing prey and periods of gluttony.

H. arizonensis: digging in corners of tank, trying to climb walls, hanging from ceiling. Only begins to add to starter burrow after several weeks of ignoring it.

My H. Arizonensis is out all day & night, costantly busy with moving dirt, not tunnels.
My Mordax is out mostly during the day, walking.
My Boreus is never out, day or night.
