New T's including pokie from BTS show

Ok, managed to get a few half decent shots of my new T's expecting the rest tomorrow.

Dunno? Don't know how to sex em yet or haven't had the opportunity to.

it's fairly easy to sex T's when you get a hand of it.. but more difficult that sexing scorpions. most (if not all) tarantulas are sexually dimporphic when mature. males are generally smaller, and the sperm bulbs under the pedipalps are usually visable. the majority of tarantulas species males' also have tibial hooks to help during mating. there are a few other things too, but I can't really remeber.

also, you can look as the epigastric furrow on the ventral side of a T.

it's in.. russi.. ukrainian.. or something, but you can still see the basic structures of the aforementioned furrows.. (the things above the booklungs, highlighted in a bolder black colou)

after all that, the most reliable (always correct if done right) is to look at a moult.. the inside bit carries certain structures that define a male/female. but I'm not sure so hopefully someone else can explain it.

Your pokie is a female, thankfully pokies (not all but does for the regalis) give a nice colour indication of male or female.

The white 'diamond' marking on her abdomen has no dark inner patterning, which the males have. you can see this from them being about half grown. I have a male striata and he has a dark brown 'diamond' pattern, whereas a female's pattern is white/cream in colour.

Males also are a lot browner than the females. You girly is distinctly 'black and white' where as a male by now would be a lot duller and the markings less refined.

Ray Gabriel's mate did a poster with just about all pokies on it, showing all markings of males, females and ventral colouring. It has already proved a useful buy from the BTS show

hehe by looking on its pattern, u can tell regalis's gender...
