1st instar is a newborn...2nd instar is a bit bigger...and so on until adulthood | |

| It refers to the number of molts an arthropod has undergone.
First instar = 1I = zero molts.
Second instar = 2I = one molt
And so on
(Instar) = (number of molts) + 1 | |
