well here's one of stiggs new tanks. At first we though the dimensions were a bit small but we had forgotten the size of the tarantula, because she is a classic 'pet hole'.
got the idea from one of Volka Von Worth's papers. Saw them and thought oooh they will be good for space saving and obviously work well if he uses them.
You can get three of these tanks to share a 1ft sq. heat mat. And it will look nice to have a more professional look to the housing situation Smile

And we discovered an easy way to get the tarantula into it's new home without causing it too much stress. The substrate was warm but obviously not hot. and the humidity that built up from the subby went straight into the pop bottle creating condensation inside of it, causing the tarantula to slowly lose grip off the sides and give her the idea to go into the new tank under her own steam without any severe risk of escape. Of all the T's we have this is certainly not one I would like to chase after or lose... incredibly aggressive species.
And apparently these enclosures are absolutely fantastic for eggsac's because they allow pretty good ventilation at the bottom of the enclosure

So anyway... here's the pics Smile

it is closely related to the minax. However there are several species undescribed that bare a striking resemblance to the minax but are slightly different here and there, and this is one of those odd-ball tarantula's.

Unfortunately the mating last year was unsuccessful because the female has since sloughed. However we are hopeful for a successful breeding this year, Lee is supposed to be getting a few more of these in so we have a male on pre-order.

sides 300 x 210mm (A4 sheet of paper)
base 210 x 100mm
back 300 x 100mm
front bottom 100 x 20mm
front top 100 x 235mm
adjust measurements to accommodate whatever thickness glass/perspex you are using

wire mesh at front 45 x 130mm (bend edges to fit inside glass and silicone the top and bottom when flush with the glass.
Wire mesh used: 20 count fine stainless steel
(20 count = amount of holes within a 1" length)

4mm glass runner for the sliding lid
wire mesh lid same size as base

approx cost per tank (based on materials for 3 tanks) £12 per tank.
Obviously if you are buying in bulk that will bring the price down to about £10 per unit
