I was doing the rounds recently, and discovered that my one remaining
Vaejovis / Hoffimanus sp. is gravid. Lotsa embryos clearly visible through the membranes.
Why should this be unexpected, you say? Well, for starters, she's about half the size of the one that stillbirthed in September. I just assumed she was immature and taking forever to molt, but maybe she's not a
V. / H. spinigerus as I assumed. Secondly, I bought her in January of 2008. I wasn't aware these guys could gestate for so long.
This is her when I bought her last January, either the bottom right or top left. Top right is the female that munched two of her tankmates and had the stillborn brood, so you can really see the size difference.
Does the board have any thoughts on the matter? If it means anything, I bought her from Ken the Bug Guy at a show.
