So I have had a possibly gravid adult female for about a month. She doesn't look like she is near birth so I figured I'd attempt to cohabitate her with a similar sized male until she was closer to giving birth.
So within seconds of intoducing the male he starts juddering like mad. While juddering he found a cricket and started eating it. The female turns to face the male and the male rushes up to her and immediately grabs on and starts the dance, but still juddering like mad (even more funny is that the male is doing this with a cricket hanging out of his mouth).
The female acted receptive for a few seconds and then broke it off (she is possibly gravid, so she probably just had no need to mate). The male got a bit upset and started spazing out running around the enclosure periodically stopping to judder (still holding the cricket in the mouth). He made 4 more attempts at mating with the female (persistant little bugger) until the female just got really mad and went after the male. I seperated the two, (i'll try cohibitating again when the female can actually mate), but as soon as he was in his own container he went ballistic attempting to escape and attacking everything in site (he really wanted to mate with that female) until he calmed down about 5 minutes later.
So now I am going to locate and buy a non-gravid female for him to mate with because he was acting like a virgin at a strip club :sex:
