| So I was just checking up on my communal B. jacksoni setup and, to my COMPLETE surprise, found an excuvium in there. It was from a female. Next to it I found the other 2 B. jacksoni lying next to her dead body (thought she was alive at first...). I thought they all were adults and not juvies -- I guess I was wrong. What could the problem have been?? Should I just seperate them all? 3/5 left | |

| In a ten gallon with cork board all over the place for hides (more horizontal than vertical). I have a 75W heat lamp shared between them and the emp's 10 GAL during the night, which keeps them around 80F. Probably about the same during the day. I'm not sure since thermometers love to break on me. There's about 2" of coco/peat on the bottom with some moist spots. I usually like to overflow the water dish a little bit once or twice a week. They're always fed. Maybe I'm not giving them enough ventalation. I use a sheet of glass on the top to hold in humidity and, most of the time, it has roughly a 1/2" gap between the glass and edge of the lid. I just doubled that space now. I don't know ... | |

| But what about ventalation then? Should I keep about an inch of a gap in the top (long ways)? | |

| i let my humidity spike alot.. so my B.jacksoni gets high humidity then drys out and back to high humidity again... a inch gap is fine.. 7 broods last year.. so i might be doing it right i bet your keeping them too dry, they like it humid.. | |

| I used to keep them seperately in their own little jars, and the humidity was definitely higher than it currently is now that I look at it. The substrate looks like I didn't add enough water to let it soak in very far. My slacking off lately is causing me to lose scorps. Hopefully my only female left is gravid (lookin fat -- possibly premolt since I judged the other one incorrectly and she ended up molting again ...) b/c I don't have the $ to get scorps right now. I'll up the humidity and let it "dry out" and repeat the process as neccessary, and see how it goes. Thanks, Kej | |
