| hi this is my first post, great forum i'm looking for some advice about molting my scorpion recenty tried to molt although this has been goin on for about 36 hours (i know this is too long) this doesnt seem to be the problem as he molted most of the shell within 24 hours. my concern is he hasnt been able to shed one of his claws and it looks deformed, i have tryed to "help" him by using a q-tip an some slighly warm water although this seem to stress him too much. should i continue to do this, are there any better ways or am i going about this the wrong way. any help would be much appreciated. | |

| what species? if it is an forest species then just raise the humidity and see how it goes, if it is a desert species then be careful how much water you use. either way a scorp can live with only one functioning claw. | |

| sorry i forgot to mention is an Emperor the humidity has been raised for about a day now and this doesn't seem to have made a difference. It doesnt look as though he is even trying to free himself. - Quote :

| I knew one guy who was able to help his emp molt -- he helped to work its way out of the exo while it was still soft and couldn't do it on its own (they often look deformed immediately following a molt while they're soft).
If it's been that long, chances are it's already started to harden and may not be able to make it out.
If there's only one functioning claw, the old one will probably stay there, but it will just be sort of deformed.

I was able to remove the exo that he was draging around, but now the claw just looks as though its getting "strangled". Just hope i didnt stress him out too much. I raised the humidity yesterday and over the night but there has been no change ill try to feed him tomarow and see what he does. Thanks for all your help, I just think am going to have to sit this one out

| I don't think he's ready to feed yet if it's been that recent -- give him at least a week for his mouthparts and healthy pincher to fully harden up. | |
