water gel's dirty little secret...

if anyone here buys water gel that comes in crystals and costs like £6 a tub, dont change it every day/week as it says!!! it never runs out! let it dry up, leave it submerged in water and it grows 2-3 times larger than it was in the first place... then when it drys out again... repeat the above and you will never need to replace it!

Untill it gets manky and full of bacteria! But good idea it does work. I find it cheaper to buy it dry, about £1.50 and you get twice the ammout as a £6 tub

I buy it dry too. I dropped some on my yard the other day and today was the first day of REAL califonia rain and i thought I had ice on my yard those things got HUGE

exactly the same way i found out they expand that big! LOL

I used to offer that stuff to my dubias... but one day my little cousin was bored and stole a large female, killed her (hes 8, and kind of sadistic), and cut her in half. I admit Im glad cause what we found in her abdomen was REALLY DISTURBING. She was FULL OF GEL CRYSTALS!!! I mean like she was a stuffed beanbag.. only with gel... i was shocked and immediately concerned because I dont know if that stuff is safe to EAT... and my dragons were eating those things too. so I stopped offering it and switched over to just misting the roach tub. its been a few months and they are doing very well.
