| for some reason, i dont think it is an Hottentotta at all Hottentotta trilineatus looks pretty much the same, buuuuut the patterns dont match up. Only colors and pedipalps are almost the same. Odontorus dentatus looks the same, and have the same shapes and colors, but not the same color combination, but almost. I did think of an Mesobuthus i while, but its not thats species either. This is really frustrating And btw: I have never seen a scorp like this, it have a dirty look on its back, looks like sand EDIT: If its from libya, it cant be T.stigmurus, because T.stig is from Brazil | |

| It is a Vaejovidae. Maybe a V. spinigerus. I would post it on atshq and let Kari or Zach ID it. | |

| If it is, it sure as hell isn't a Libyan sand scorpion -- I caught one of those in west Texas in June! ID confirmed by Kari. Edit: Just to clarify, that's a V. coahuilae I posted a pic of . . . it's also a juvenile. If this is what the OP has, then I'm guessing he's got a mature male (thicker metasoma, bulbous chela). | |

We caught it on sandy soil just outside of Marfa, Texas, hiding in the crown of a little grass-like plant that was occurring in little patches. I kept it on dry cocofiber. I tried to find mine last night, but I think it may have died a few weeks ago and then I forgot that it had.

| I have ~70 or so. I check on 'em all once a week and usually forget to note if one or two die.
I should have a few broods coming soon though, so my count will probably double (at least).
