| I wouldn't reccommend S. subspinipes as a starter 'pede, and I think Venom's referring to a subspecies.
S. polymorpha is pretty, large, and relatively docile (compared to other species).

cant you catch them down there Yeah they are surprisingle everywhere. Nice colorationa mild venom and very docile. I actually TRIED to get one to bite me so I can feel what a centipede bite feels like but to no avail. The only pede I would actually handle. I wouldn't charge at all if I had any in stock but I gotta actually go out and collect. *edit: heres what they look like. The common name is Tiger Centipede

Only because they escape alot more than larger ones, and are a bit harder to get to eat. I say start with a polymorhpa. Get around 6 inches and real bulky, also burrow a whole lot and your not gonna see it except for night. If you want a big cheap and real aggressive pede I say get a Vietnamese species of subspinipes. S.heros cast. are also a good option. Your not going to get bit unless your careless or want to be bitten. Personally I dont know why anyone would want a pede to bite them, my small polys have bit me along with my feather tail, its not a blast. Get theh biggest meanest most amazing looking pede you can get your hands on, I started with a 7" Subspinipes phillipines so it dont make much of a difference. IF you do get a subspinipes I dont advise handling though the bite is an amazingly painful experience. Imagine a 5 lb hammer smashing your finger over and over for a couple days. Of course im a hipocrit for telling you this sense Im holding a 6 inch one in my avatar
