| Heat rocks are like instant death get them out other then that make the substrate thicker and something more like dirt not some type wood plus cedar is dangerous and will kill if you didnt know lol next time you get a pet read up on it dont listen to the people at the store and just buy it | |

| What is that substrate? Bark? Coco chips? Doesn't seem like something the scorpion can easily burrow into. Also, it looks way too dry!
You're on the right track in putting the heatpad on the side, but get rid of the heatrocks, they're really not made for inverts and are not too safe to use.

| Redid the setup for my female H. swammerdami and decided to share. Please note this is still a temporary setup as I'm working on some new enclosures at the moment to free a glass tank for her. | |

| These are my P. granulatus enclosures. The grass will eventually die and give the enclosure a more "deserty" effect. Male enclosure: Female enclosure: | |

| @ Fubujubu Nice pics. I like the enclosure.
However, your scorpion is not a P. imperator, but a Heterometrus species. If you post some clear pics of the carapace (head), chela (claws), and patella (the part of the pedipalp that connects to the chela), I can try to ID it for you. (Obviously, post them in the "Scorpion ID" section.)

| Opistophthalmus lamorali setup. This one contains the dog eared, ill sub adult I received a while ago. It began to burrow under the rocks on the right hand side weeks ago and such, I haven't seen it since it started doing so. I have no idea if the little dude is still alive but I don't want to risk digging it up and disturbing it. The substrate is a mix of sand, excavator clay and coir. The rocks are a really flakey yellowy granite from Jersey, C.I. that has some nice iron stained streaks in it making it look nice a 'deserty'. I also collected lots of small pieces of the larger rocks to mix in with the substrate to give it a more natural look. I chopped off some dried leaves of Carex sp. grass from the garden as it lasts for a long time in an enclsoure without rotting/falling apart. These were stuck to pieces of bamboo cane to create little bunches, and then were placed into the substrate. I really need to sort out some kind of background for it as being able to see the heatmat looks a bit crap IMO. | |

| Beautiful enclosure Callum. I am pretty sure the scorp is very happy and thriving in that deep substrate. | |

| My 0.1 Parabuthus granulatus enclosure: I tried to make it look a lot like the habitat where she came from. As I live very close to where she was found I collected everything from there. Her burrow entrance where she spends about 100% of her time at the moment as she is in her later stage of gestation. Temps range between 30 - 33 degrees centigrade at her burrow end and humidity between 30 and 40: Some more: The cold side of the enclosure where temps are between 25-27 and humidity a tadd higher than the warm side: Overall shot of the enclosure: Tell me what you guys think, I know it might be a bit clustered, but thats how their habitat looks like. | |

| Did two 2ft tanks for my growing H. longimanus colony. Hollow bricks provide stacked lurking spots for them. Sometime in the future I'm gonna add plants, real or artificial, haven't decided. Cheers and best regards | |

Thanks:)' the wood is Moorkienwood, it has been treated with a salt bath to prevent mold. It was first in my aquarium:) so I thought I'd use it again:)
