| I have heard that you can feed the Asian Forest Scorpion live mice and lizards, and it actually makes them grow larger in size?
Is that true, and is it worth feeding this kind of prey to them?
thank you | |

| You can feed them small vertebrates, yes, but it wouldn't make them grow any larger in size. In fact, the animals large enough to eat small vertebrates would probably be adults, meaning that they won't grow any more.
Is it worth it? Maybe if you have leftover feeders from reptiles or something, but in general, no. It's more expensive, doesn't benefit the scorpion at all, if it's too large the vertebrate has the chance of injuring the scorpion, it's rather gruesome to watch (particularly if it's a mammal) because the scorpion usually will eat it alive, it makes a big mess with blood, guts, fur, etc., and particularly with mammals it can smell.
Your choice to do it of course, but I should say that this forum has a rule of no pictures or videos of inverts eating verts. Links to said pictures or videos would be fine as long as there is an appropriate disclaimer, but directly inserting any pictures or videos is not. | |
