First B. jacksoni molt!

When I woke up this morning, to my surprise, I had seen what appeared to be an exuvium on the piece of bark. It was! My one B. jacksoni had decided to molt! I was sorta expecting this because he didn't slim down and he wasn't eating. This is my first molt from these little guys. Now 4 more B.jacks to go!

I can't believe how much they can pack into their old exo's.

It was a very good molt. Luckily I had did my misting routine on the substrate last night . That probably made things easier for him.

By the time they're 5i I'm going to have bigger enclosures set up for them. Possibly even a communal enclosure if I can do that @ 5i. I forget if you can or not.

I'm no expert but i think its only adults cause they tend to cannibalize during molts...Don't quote me tho...

That's exactly what I thought! The exuvium must shrink a bit afterward or something. It's crazy

Actually... At 4i do they need a water dish or are they fine with the moisture in the substrate?

5I is adult for males. I've had 5I males and females together without problem (well, I had some deaths, but they weren't cannibalism).

cool! nice clean moult, too.

Oh, and about packing stuff into an exo . . . just wait until you have a female go from 5I to 6I, then look at the metasoma.

Do you think I need a water dish for him now since he's 4i? He seems big enough to drink out of one. Problem is, it's going to be hard even fitting a bottle cap in the container.

How long should I wait to feed him? He molted roughly 24-hours ago.

I waited a day.

I'll see if he accepts some food. Just fed my two big emps and my B. albopilosum. They all took the food with no problem at all.

Another one looks to be ready to molt very soon. I give it 2-3 days

Btw, the newly 4i guy didn't take the cricket, so I'll try in a couple days.

The bigger they are, the longer they take to harden.

i always give at least a few days before food is offered.

Now for the first one to molt. He looks as if he's going to burst pretty damn soon.

Instead of names, I give them numbers. So, #4 is going to be the next one who molts I bet

Actually I've no idea who's gonna be next now! The rest (3/5) of them are looking fatter now. 2 already and 3 more to go pretty soon
