| i purchased new cocohumus as substrate and purchase some galoons of cocohumus for my scorpion so he could dig, now he have digged a hole under his house, but i havent seen the scorpion for about 2 weeks now, not even in the night time so do i see the scorpion, i have checked if the scorpion is alive and he is because he attacks my Tweezer if i put it in the hole. but he doesnt eat. before he eatn like a dubia once a week. now he have just sat in his hole and havent eaten. is this normal that they hide in their holes for weeks and then come out to eat or could it be stuck in his hole?
i dont know what i should do, is this normal? | |

| Emps will often go through periods where they simply hide. t_saga could be right, your scorp could be in pre-molt. Keep an eye on the humidity and temp to make sure they stay at optimum levels. It's perfectly normal for emps to hide for long periods and go without food too. Just make sure you don't leave uneaten food inside, if it is in pre-molt it will be extremely vulnerable. Emps are pretty good at letting you know when their uncomfortable. If it's hiding it usually means it's pretty happy. | |

| I know how frustratingly tempting it is to dig the scorpion out.
Try this: Buy a small UVB flashlight, and during the night check the cage and shine in it's hiding spot, I use that to check on my P. Cavimanus, so I know she is ok!
As UV light in high concentration and prolonged exposure is harmful to scorpions, limit your use of it. But for the occasional nightly check it's very handy!
