Big Meal Empty
PostSubject: Big Meal   Big Meal Empty9/30/2013, 11:28 pm

Recently fed my Emperor a decent sized gecko. How long before
she may be hungry again? Normally, she'll eat 2-4 crickets a week.
I do not want to offer anything for a while but not sure as to how
long to wait. This is my first "exotic" and could use suggestions.
Thanks.headbang

I'd refrain from feeding them verts, as it's very hard on the scorpion. Those bones can break or injure her chelicerae.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind for future
feedings. She's holed up nice and comfy
for now.

I concur, I wouldn't make it a regular habit but on the flip side large scorpions do prey on vertebrates within their home range.

From what I read about them, they'll pretty much eat almost anything they can catch. I read about not giving pinkies very often because they were not a "normal" prey item for them. I thought a gecko may be an occasional treat (every 6 months or so) but not a regular offering. I'm fairly new to this so I do not want to overfeed her; any idea when a more traditional prey item should be offered?

I fed my adult female emp a pinky once and she was ready to eat a week later. If your emp is not hungry he probably won't eat.
