| so..anyone else think this is weird looking? the rear right leg is missing the last segment...doesn't seem to bother her too much thought | |

| Birth defect? its pretty common to find scorpions with missing leg segments when they are WC.. i find it all the time when i get scorpions thats WC.. sadely they can be abit harder to sell when they are missing a segment.. but it doesnt effect the scorpion.. they might get it from fighting or preditor trying to get a hold of them.. or even humans that have collected them that accidently ripped a leg off.. | |

| it could be but also I didnt know if this was a WC scorpion. could be CB in the shop and sold on | |

| well it chould be a CB scorpion and still lose a leg.. communal settings can cause fighting and they can lose limbs that way too but i have seen it more commanly on WB scorps.. | |

| I just had an emp lose a back leg to a scuffel in my juvie tank... all were CB and bought at a show... All is good they all get along still. |

| well as long as she can still catch food and climb to her little perch area im happy...just thought id share the pic since i just noticed today and i got her at the pet store..THINK shes WC but im not positive | |

| Pet store = WC.
I've seen similar oddities -- I think I have a WC Oregon species missing a tarsus. Someone noticed on an H. arizonensis with a similar injury that the remaining segment developed the two little claws normally present on the tarsi. I think (can't remember exactly, only pics aren't showing it) mine did the same thing. | |

| mabye her leg got damaged during a moult or something, or the moult didnt come of the leg properly. | |

Maybe in America, in the UK most pet shop suppliers deal only in CB. Of all the suppliers I used whilst in the pet trade, only one dealt in WC, and we never used them. There are enough people breeding here to sustain us. | |

| thats not entirely tru, as a generalisation, in england yes alot are cabtive bred but mainly pandinus imperator, other species are mainly w.c | |

| a lot of the tarantulas in the shop we go to are actually captive bread. But the scorpions are wild caught. | |
