Birth defect? its pretty common to find scorpions with missing leg segments when they are WC.. i find it all the time when i get scorpions thats WC.. sadely they can be abit harder to sell when they are missing a segment.. but it doesnt effect the scorpion.. they might get it from fighting or preditor trying to get a hold of them.. or even humans that have collected them that accidently ripped a leg off..

Pet store = WC.

I've seen similar oddities -- I think I have a WC Oregon species missing a tarsus. Someone noticed on an H. arizonensis with a similar injury that the remaining segment developed the two little claws normally present on the tarsi. I think (can't remember exactly, only pics aren't showing it) mine did the same thing.

Maybe in America, in the UK most pet shop suppliers deal only in CB. Of all the suppliers I used whilst in the pet trade, only one dealt in WC, and we never used them. There are enough people breeding here to sustain us.

a lot of the tarantulas in the shop we go to are actually captive bread.
But the scorpions are wild caught.
