| So my female had babies a few months ago all the babies have molted at least 2 times I think maybe 1 or 2 are molting again? Or maybe those are just catching up to the rest, anyway they eat (same tank as the mother ) 4 crushed crickets almost every night. There is about 8 babies left the rest have been sold, also another side note the mothers female helper died a few days ago, so I may cut down on the feeding, anyway I saw one baby and its 1st leg was on top on the claw arm which looked like it was broken, I don't know if they can live without one of the claw arms? Will it heal with a molt? Will it die if the the claw arm gets ripped off? No idea how it happened because I the mother has gotten really aggressive since her friend died. So it's hard to truly look at the injured baby, I can try and post pictures but the best thing would be with a black light since they blend in with the substrate. Thanks guys really worried about this baby. | |

| I'm going to move this to the emergency section. (There's also a thread in that section that has a situation similar to yours.)
We'll need pictures to see exactly what's going on. Move it into an ICU in the meantime.

| Yeah get us a picture if possible might need to be amputated. It might live a long life still but we need to see what you mean first. | |

| It may have molted and then attacked by another sibling. See what the more experienced people have to say. | |

| It looks like it had a bad molt.
The pedipalp is the least of your worries I'm sorry to say. The metasoma looks deformed, and if there's any serious internal damage your scorpion may actually be unable to defecate; and therefore might die. Only time will tell.
In my opinion the pedipalp should be amputated. It's currently inhibiting the scorpion's movement. Instructions for amputating can be found in this thread: http://www.scorpion-forum.com/t10415-stuck-in-molt

| +1. I noticed the tail was screwy too. It most likely won't be able to sting and poop. | |

| Why would there be internal damage? | |

Unless of course you're a practiced insomniac like I am. Hope (s)he pulls through. - sp1int3r wrote:

The metasoma is all screwy and twisted to put it bluntly. It's possible some of the digestive system could be damaged.

| Okay...
What's the current status of the scorp? Any changes in behavior other than issues getting around due to the crippled limb? Eating normally?
Have you amputated? | |
