| I was talking to a friend of mine and my strange scorpion hobby somehow came up and he mentioned when he was serving in the military how he came across some scorpions and gave me the most bizarre common names. Grizzly brown scorpion (WTH?), fat tailed dragon scorpion (probably and andro); anyways these were mostly made up, I’m sure, but I thought it’d be fun to know what “Common Name” you’d give your scorpions and why? Let’s try to do 1 per post to keep the thread going. I’ll start Smeringurus vachoni The Southern California prickly tail Why? These guys are a local species but have a very unique look to them they have unusually thin bodies with huge claws and hairy long segmented tails. | |

| Tityus stigmurus: Brazillian Guitar scorpion
The stripe that goes down their body reminds me of a rosewood neck on a guitar, kinda like the one I have. And as they get older they turn into a light brown "wood" color, similar to that of an acoustic guitar.

I was going to say the Orange Sorority Scorpion because they're all female and incredibly social.

| Interesting fact: Crassicauda means "fat tail" in latin, so it translates to Fat-Tailed Mankiller. | |
