RIP Jack Empty
PostSubject: RIP Jack    RIP Jack Empty6/16/2013, 7:00 pm

I just came home from my grandparents to find out that My Babycurus jacksoni named Jack has died. His tail was not limp though. He is just stiff. The tail is still curled but the claws and legs are curled in. Did I dehydrate him? What did I do wrong? I really liked him almost as much as Shredder. He ate every time I fed him, and I loved that about him. What happened to him? I'm so sad I don't understand.

That was it except I removed the plant and replaced it with a stik that spanned the enclosure. All that was at least a month before his molt. He had a water dish but today when I checked it it was empty.

Dry, but he had a water dish. I would mist a third, then let it dry, then mist it again. I stopped misting 2 days ago so I didn't stress him.

Seems like you were doing everything right though. He did just molt, maybe he died of exhaustion? Or perhaps it was too dry? I'm really sorry to hear that though, don't let it discourage you though. You're a good scorpion keeper.

Hard to tell with these guys.  They can handle some periods of dry, and it sounds like you didn't dehydrate it.  The temps might get too high for them.  I lost a bunch of mine years ago for no apparent reason.  Keep at it and don't get discouraged.

Thanks Bayss. I just went to church and the homily was exactly what I needed. Thanks Patcho also for the support and the help a couple days ago.

Heres the last picture I have of him:

I thought Bj's like coco fiber to be kept just like an emp. That's what I read from GS care sheet. %60-80 RH as long as they can escape up a bark if it gets too wet.

I'm so sorry shreddie.
It could have just been a weak specimen. I lost 5 A. Bi color when I first got them. I was very upset with myself, them, my seller. But for the love of all things scorpion we must go on.

I'm a ways off yet but when my Bj's start producing I'll ship ya a replacement or 3, you've lost some cool little buddies lately and I feel for ya.

Thanks a lot Yames. That's really nice of you to offer me them. Since I loved the species so much, I will get my hands on them again. I don't want to be receiving free scorpions just because I lost some, but Yames, I might have to buy a couple off of you. Or maybe a couple of couples.

When these guys get going I'll be swimming in them as I understand. And don't tell me what to do I'm not this nice to most people but for some reason I like you kid. don't look a gift horse in the mouth!

It may have something to do with me being a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan and you being from Illi...

Naw I went to bed after the 2nd ot. But I did watch game 2 and I was swearing at my tv at the end there. We need to win 3 or 4 in boston for sure to even up the series. But both would be delightful

Yes. I would love to win 3+4. A friend of mine predicted hawks win games 1, 4, 5, and 6. So far its coming true.

I'll take it if I have to... but boston going up 2-1 in the series is too scary for me. I wanted a 3 game sweep where they concede game 4...

Hey shredder sorry to break it to you but it was probably owner fault in this situation. I'm no bashing you but this is how we learn. I killed my H.hottentotta's by dehydrating them too but I learned from my mistake. With b.jacks and also those C.gracilis i sent you, it's not enough to just offer water they need the humidity. More so witht he B.jacks, with my C.gracilis I let them dry out before remisting but B.jacks need constant humidity. So my advice is get back on the bike and get some more B.jacks and this time keep them humid and breed them Smile

Good, be mad at yourself..let the hate and madness fuel you...come to dark side!!! LOL jk, it's ok dude we're all guilty of it. Someitmes it's from lack of knowledge sometimes from lack of experience. Now you know better and I'm sure we'll see you evolve to a respeful breeder one day. In fact, I'm sure you'll look back on this and laugh

Don't laugh for sure. But learn from it and don't repeat a mistake. Every one makes them but the smart ones learn from them.

I meant laugh at the kinds of mistakes you would make not at the death itself. Kinda like I laught that my first emp was kept in sand.
