I apparently don't have the best luck with pedes.

Just got back from a wedding in Bar Harbor, Maine.

I look over all my inverts to find that my Scolopendra dehaani had apparently died while I was away.

I'm not sure of the cause of death, it was fine when I left, it even ate.
There's still an uneaten cricket in the tank, so I'm guessing it died very soon after I left (so, three days ago).

Maybe the other one was contaminated with pesticides?

But then why wouldn't thee other crickets be?

Perhaps an internal parasite.

I doubt it was old age, there was no noticed lethargic behavior prior to the death.

The temperature did drop pretty drastically, (went from 90 to 40 in one day) however it wouldn't have gotten lower than 65 degrees, and that's not counting the heat source for the tanks, in which case I doubt it dropped below 75 at the lowest. There was also someone coming in to feed the fish and the cats while I was away, so I'm sure it wasn't the temp.

Substrate's moist, water-dish is full.......

I probably won't get another pede, more likely I'll be ordering a Centruroides nigrescens pair. (Course, I'll get another pede when I get another tank, but scorps come first.)
