| Hello,
a 5gal tank will be fine. I would provide several inches of sandy substrate that allows the scorpions to create short burrows or scrapes. Sand with some excavator clay mixed in works well. Add plenty of rocks or pieces of bark/wood for them to create hides under.
Lifespan I'm not sure about, but I'd hazard a guess at at least 5 years from birth.
You will want to provide daytime temperatures in the high 20c's. If this is your ambient temperature anyway you won't need any extra heat. If it's not, use a mat or lamp to boost the temperatures during the day. A drop in temperature to the low 20c's at night is fine.
Provide a water dish and/or mist a corner of their enclosure every week.
Prolonging life? Provide the scorpions with the best conditions you can and they will live as long as they are supposed to. Remember to gut-load your feeder insects and provide as varied a diet as possible, for both the scorpions and the feeder insects. Don't power feed and don't keep the scorpions at very high temperatures for long periods of time. Whilst they'll grow quickly they'll also live (and die) quickly lol.
Hope that has helped a little. For tonnes more info. check out this http://www.venomlist.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16556 | |
