Poor Picture Quality

So I have an HP Photosmart M437, and I use the macro setting, and hold the shutter button down until the focus thingy turns green, not red, and take my shots, but eight times out of ten i get pictures like below. Any ideas?

Most likely it's focusing distance.

Do you use any zoom when taking macro shots?

From my experience P&S cameras don't focus well when zooming on Macro mode.
