I was wondering if anyone has had success with having two different species of scorpion in the same tank?

That depends on what the species are. If the requirements are the same, then it's possible, but I imagine there's a higher risk of cannibalism. Some people have had moderate success keeping P. imperator and H. spinifer together, and at least one member has kept two species of bark scorpion together.

I'm looking to get two Smeringurus mesaensis and two
Buthacus leptochelys. I've read that both are communal. Also I have a 30gal. tank. Would these species need different soil/conditions?

Really Maybe I read wrong, but the Buthacus leptochelys scorpions are correct? What would the best soil be for this species?

I would say most "desert" scorpions wouldn't be communal. either way, it's probably not worth the risk..
